Job Description

The Permit Coordinator is responsible for submitting and obtaining electronic solar and ESS permits. In addition, they will maintain Swell's AHJ, Utility, & Fire Department database, work with relevant stakeholders to decrease permitting cycle time, and manage Swell's third-party permitting teams.

Responsibilities

Submit electronic solar and energy storage permits

Manage a team of 3rd party permitting teams

Lead weekly meetings to ensure each team is meeting current SLAs

Work cross-functionally to manage permits and identify and execute on targeted improvements to speed

Onboard and train additional 3rd party teams to ensure to meet projected volume and geographical coverage

In collaboration with various support groups, identify opportunities to continue to improve permitting

Update AHJ tracker to catalog AHJ-and Fire-specific requirements expected cycle time based on previous submittals, key contacts, and any other improvement information for permit submittal

Track and monitor key permitting metrics

Build on the AHJ database to help our site survey team, project coordinators, and sales team better anticipate AHJ-specific challenges and timeline

Verify all necessary documents match the customer’s utility bill and scope of work

Manage the business license database and work with the finance to ensure all relevant information for license renewal is up to date per the SOP

Attend AHJ meetings and events as needed to represent Company interests. Collaborate with Policy and legal teams when their support and coordination is needed

Support implementation of strategic campaigns for new products, tools, and processes – aim for rapid AHJ education and adoption

Requirements

2+ years solar/solar+storage/storage or comparable industry experience

2+ years permitting experience

Ability to read/interpret construction/building plans and electrical diagrams

Ability to communicate with building officials/building departments/and external vendors regarding permitting requirements

Ability to communicate quickly and succinctly

Ability to research potential issues and develop solutions

Knowledge of MS Office and G-Suite (including Gmail, Gsheets, etc)

Knowledge of Adobe Acrobat and other pdf editing software

Exceptional attention to detail & ability to work independently remotely

Entrepreneurial mindset with a strong work ethic

Occasional travel to company events, and trainings.

Wage: $45,000-$50,000 per year.
