Corporate Controller

Job Description

Swell Energy is seeking an experienced Corporate Controller to be responsible for managing the corporate accounting function reporting to the CFO. You will oversee the accounting staff which will include managing staff assignments and ensuring financial reporting requirements are completed accurately and timely. The Corporate Controller will also be responsible for accounting policies and systems. To be successful in this role, the Corporate Controller should possess the ability to conduct a wide variety of intricate and complex accounting duties and projects. Must be a self-motivated, reliable individual interested in joining our growing organization.

Responsibilities

• Oversee all accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems ensuring compliance with appropriate GAAP standards

• Own and manage the month-end close process and the preparation of financial statements

• Mentor team members with their development

• Oversee and manage the monthly and quarterly close process in support of all business functions

• Direct the ongoing development and establishment of accounting policies and procedures

• Lead strategic financial projects, including accounting system upgrades and future ERP implementation

• Collaborate with business partners on projects to help the flow of business, such as inventory management

• Ensure compliance with internal control policies

• Responsible for the financial reporting of budget variance analysis

• Manage the annual budget process and preparation of annual tax forms

• Conduct inventory audits and lead the internal audit process as required

• Prepare and support ad hoc management special projects as requested

Requirements

• 5-8 years of experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting with CPA or MBA strongly preferred

• Solid understanding of US GAAP

• Strong understanding of cost accounting standards and concepts

• SEC reporting experience

• Experience with various accounting systems required

• Previous experience effectively managing a team

• Proven track record for improving processes and solving problems

• Able to manage multiple projects concurrently with the ability for timely resolutions

• Excellent analytical skills

• Detailed oriented with deep technical accounting knowledge

• Demonstrate high integrity and ethical standards, in addition to complete confidentiality is required

• Excellent communicator with strong verbal and written skills

Compensation: $195k- $230k Annually
