Exercise utility time of use rates and leverage a battery to take control of high energy costs. Use your battery when rates are high and switch back to the grid when rates are low.
Swell Energy’s virtual power plant program (VPP) in Orange County provides local, renewable energy to help meet increased demand without the need for fossil fuel power plants, improving air quality and lowering pollution.
The VPP program also helps fill the capacity shortfall that resulted from the decommissioning of the San Onofre Nuclear Power Plant in 2013 as well as the impending retirement of nearby ocean-cooled power plants, which may impact grid reliability. During moments of peak demand, the batteries will take participating homes partially or fully off of grid energy, reducing Southern California Edison’s (SCE) reliance on expensive fossil fuel peaker plants.
Swell Energy is actively recruiting 2,000 residents and small businesses in Orange County into this VPP to create 5MW of capacity and demand response capabilities for SCE. This project is part of SCE’s second Preferred Resources Pilot and will deliver energy to SCE during peak demand periods for 15 years.

Protect Your Power is an innovative new program between homeowners, their utility, and Swell Energy.
It pairs energy storage, solar panels, and battery management software to benefit the electrical grid and back up your power, even during power shutoffs.
Qualifying customers can finance a solar system, plus a Tesla Home Battery for $113 a month.
Act now — this is a limited-time offer.
A home battery acts like a barrier between your home and the power grid. It plugs right into your current electrical system to optimize daily energy use and to provide backup power during a grid outage. Watch this video for a quick explanation.
State and federal programs are limited and will sunset soon, check your eligibility to see if you qualify. Now more than ever, energy security is top of mind, and Swell Energy has a solution.
